Masked bunny marauders

Grammy Menke sent the girls a really fun Easter gift a few days before Easter - bunny masks. Alyssa was so excited about her mask, she wore it for nearly three days straight. The day after it arrived in the mail, she put it on as soon as she got out of bed and went and woke Lauren up. She then wore it to day care, while at day care, and home from day care.

She insisted on wearing it to the grocery store that night as well. Lauren caught in on the excitement for a little while that night.

They drew quite a bit of attention at the grocery store. I lost count of how many people that they made laugh or smile.

When I saw Alyssa on Sandy I was finally able to put my finger on what the girls look like with their masks on - masked bandits ready to get into some mischief. Don't you think they look they could could be out of a western movie?

Off and out

In the last update about Lauren, I commented that she'd been taking her diaper off at night in her crib. After I posted that she did it two more nights. Friday night she had it off when we checked on her before we went to bed around 11:00. We put it back on her and went to sleep. Around 5:00 in the morning I heard her stirring a little, a few little murmurs but nothing major, so I went back to sleep.

When Alyssa woke up around 7:30 or so, we went in to check on her and what a site it was - there was Lauren's little white bum sticking up in the air as she was in the fetal position with her head on her pillow. Her jammies were still on around her arms/shoulders but she had unzipped, pulled out her legs, and taken off that diaper! I had to take a picture, and I'd love to post it to make you laugh, but you just can't post that kind of thing on-line you know. For the next few nights we avoided zipper pajamas and put a onesie on underneath to prevent her from getting access to that diaper!

And then the little stinker has started trying to climb out of her crib. Yesterday morning when Aaron went to get her up, she was in the process of pulling her second leg over the top of the side of the crib. I'm sure she gave him a smile when he walked in...I'm trying to figure out how she manages to get away with all that she does! We think we can drop her mattress down one more notch, so we're going to try that and hope that it will keep her in there for at least a while longer!

Sign her up

Last summer Aaron picked up a baseball bat for Alyssa. Since it's been nice this spring, we've pulled it out and have been trying to teach her how to hold it, how to swing, etc. We've been using just an outdoor ball, but she's getting pretty good at making contact. So we took this quick video earlier this week.

Who do you think will take her...the Pirates or the Twins?!

Ketchup please

Most people have staples of bread, milk, and eggs when they go to the grocery store. While these are often on our list too (well eggs don't make it quite every time), there are a few other items that we seem to buy a lot more of now that we have kids: ketchup, peanut butter, and bananas. It blows my mind how much peanut butter we go through!

The girls love their condiments. "Ketchup" was one of Lauren's first words, and they both will put it on just about anything. Alyssa also loves mustard, and she's very specific in her tastes, she'll let you know if she wants brown, yellow, spicy, or honey. The other night at dinner, she grabbed the ketchup and began putting it on her own hamburger bun. This is how it turned out:

Not bad for a 3-year old, huh? She thought it was pretty funny that her smiley face was sticking its tongue out at her!
