That's ok

This is one of Alyssa's new phrases. She says it when she makes a mess with her food, knocks over a bottle or even when Aaron or I do something. I dripped some of Lauren's baby food on the table tonight and she responded with "That's ok mommy." She's now saying so many different things, it kind of crazy. I've caught her saying "Uh oh spaghettios", "poor Lauren," and more! One of her favorite things to do is read books herself now or finish your phrases. As we read "Little Boy Blue" tonight, she said "under the haystack fast asleep" and "No not I." She kind of saves her words for those she knows best, and she also won't use them as much when there's other kids around. Her day care provider commented how much she talked when the older two kids weren't around.

She had a bad cold about two weeks ago - running a fever and a pretty nasty cough, but she has finally seemed to recover. She got to build her first snowman this weekend. She helped roll the head, put the eyes and nose in, put the hat on his head and pick out his arms. She also thought it would be fun (upon Aaron's prompting) to slide down the slide into a big snow pack. She has also discovered the joys of making snow angels. Her favorite outdoor activity by far though is shoveling snow (eating it is a close second). If only she'd keep that enthusiasm when she's old enough to actually make a difference, huh?

She continues to be an amazing big sister. She usually calls Lauren "Lolo" still, but we have heard her on occasion say "Lauren". The way she says it is super cute, it makes me smile every time. She loves to wake Lauren up in the morning, rubbing her back or tummy and saying "Wake up Lolo. It's time to get up Lolo." And she has to be sure to give her a hug and kiss before bed every night. Tonight as Alyssa bent down to give Lauren a kiss, Lauren took off, and Alyssa yelled "Lolo no give me kiss!"

Her little memory is working too. She's becoming more accurate in what she tells you and things that she wants, she remembers. About a month ago, we borrowed "A pokcet for Cordouroy" from the library. Alyssa rediscovered her Cordouroy book recently and asked about "Pocket for Cordouroy". I told her the next time we go to the library that we could get it again. Then this morning I told her that we would have to go to the library to return the library books, among which Baby Bear, Baby Bear is her favorite (and she knows all the animals too!). When I brought up going, her first response was "Get Pocket for Cordouroy". She asked for this book at bedtime tonight and I reminder her it was at the library, and she said "go library after nap" (which is what she sometimes calls bedtime). Too funny!

Alyssa is also getting better at her colors. I think her favorite might be purple - everyone had to wear purple yesterday - she picked out her own clothes, Lauren's clothes, my shirt and even Aaron's sweatshirt. Tonight while we skyped with Wally & Dena, she thanked them for her splash pad (which has to wait til summer) and proceeded to go upstairs and get her swimsuit out of her dresser. Her mind is fast at work to say the least!

You & Alyssa with the snowman is precious.
And that snow angel....how sweet!
I recall making snow angels and snowmen in Bethel. Lots of fun then!

Now, when we do the equivalent of snow angels on our backs or bellies in Pilates, I think of those fun winters!!!!

She is on the right track of liking purple. Now we just need her to say Go Vikes!
